In recent conversations with people there seems to be a mix of both apathy and excitement when it comes to the topic of our environment. The apathetic view is one of doubt that small actions taken by an individual can actually have an impact on the environment, along with anger that many corporations often pollute without consequence while the government does little about it – so why bother? While there may be some validity to this argument, it unfortunately does not do anything to help solve the problems we are creating in the environment on a daily basis by the choices that we make.
Conversely others have been telling me about the lifestyle changes they are making because they believe it can and will make a difference in the long run. To quote Gandhi, ‘we must be the change we wish to see in the world.’ This is a more positive approach and there are many resources online providing suggestions for small changes you can incorporate into your life that will add up to make a big difference.
